General Election Results · November 3, 2026
Both chambers of Congress change hands in January
On November 3, voters gave Democrats majorities in both the House and the Senate. In the Senate, Democrats flipped seven Republican-held seats. In the House, they flipped seats across the country, including California’s 48th District, the race we took on this fall. Marni von Wilpert is projected to win it by a wide margin over Jim Desmond, in a district that leaned Republican until Proposition 50 redrew it.
To everyone who wrote postcards to CA-48 voters, came to No Kings: Vote Early on October 17, or helped a neighbor make a plan to vote: thank you.
Closer to home, two races are still too close to call: Los Angeles mayor and the third open seat on the West Hollywood City Council. Los Angeles County keeps counting mail ballots for weeks after Election Day. Any ballot postmarked by November 3 that arrives within seven days will be counted, so expect the numbers below to change.

The new majorities will be seated in January. What they do with that power will depend partly on whether constituents keep paying attention. Our weekly meeting continues every Wednesday at 6 PM, and it is where we decide what to take on next.
Our Members of Congress · Senate Leadership
Ask Senators Padilla and Schiff to back new leadership for Senate Democrats
Senate Democrats will choose their leader for the new majority in a secret-ballot vote expected in early December. Neither of our senators has said publicly that they will vote against Chuck Schumer, and a public statement before the vote is what we are asking for.
Our new page lists the three people who represent West Hollywood and Fairfax in Congress, the committees they sit on, and how to reach them, along with a short script for calling both senators.
